Another juicy Pick 6 payout on the cards at the Vaal

Pick 6s across the country have been paying the proverbial bombs lately — and the trend looks likely to continue at Tuesday’s meeting in the Vaal. Several legs of the popular bet are, shall we say, a little unfathomable.

A quick scavenger hunt through the rubble of the past two weeks reveals Pick 6 payouts of R326,000, R351,000 (with a carry-over of R262K), R171,000, R443,000, R478,000 (with an R443K c/o) , R354,000, R100,000 and R302,000.

Only four of the 16 recent Pick 6s have paid less than six figures. Those are fantastic returns for investors with the patience and skill to pick out a few peepers and quips.

On the Vaal, the most puzzling races are towards the end of the day, so we have to look at the first pair of Pick 6 legs to cut the budget.

Race 3, Leg 1, brings us Mike de Kock trained Cleaver Greene, who made his debut around Christmas time. The three-year-old is the archetypal “can be anything”, meaning he could be be our Pick 6 banker, but at the same time he could be blow us all to shreds. Just to be safe, add one or two others: Super Agra, Goliath Heron, or Money Fighter, maybe.

Cheringoma in Race 4 is also a potential cracker, with an excellent lineage and budding talent. Stuart Pippeling’s filly could indeed be a better option for banking, as she’s on a clear upward trajectory as she goes for a hat-trick in her fifth appearance – and with a featherweight to carry.
