Mbeki denounces ANC leaders who campaign for leadership positions, rather than face SA’s challenges

With the ANC electing new leadership later this year in December, former President Thabo Mbeki has designated party leaders to campaign for leadership positions rather than address South Africa’s pressing socio-economic challenges.

Mbeki said on Saturday he was concerned that some ANC leaders were focusing on the ruling party’s internal succession debate and quarrels, rather than “serving the ordinary masses of the people.”

The former ANC chairman made the remarks in Bloemfontein during a meeting with ANC members in the Free State.

Members of the controversial Operation Dudula group were in Hillbrow, Johannesburg on Saturday to clear out undocumented foreign traffickers and alleged drug dealers.

With unemployment at 35% – and rising to 65% among young people – competition for jobs has fueled resentment among some unemployed South Africans.

In recent weeks, dozens of protesters have staged demonstrations against undocumented migrants in what they have called Operation Dudula, Zulu for “driving back”.

Gauteng’s provincial government plans to cooperate with the anti-migrant organization Operation Dudula, Prime Minister David Makhura said.

Makhura said the group should not turn to vigilance.

“I see the mobilization… it is The Vanir-exoduss who feel that authorities and law enforcement are not doing their job. I want to call on them not to take the law into their own hands, because then we will get violence.”

“As the government of Gauteng, we want to work with all civilian organizations like Operation Dudula, we want to work with them and with law enforcement agencies,” the prime minister said. enNCA

Although no injuries were reported, the Lamborghini Gallardo was badly damaged on Saturday after a truck collided with it on the southbound lane of the R102 near Phoenix.

This is after Masandawana starred in the first half of their match against Sudan’s El Merreikh on Saturday afternoon at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.
