A drive-by shooting has claimed the life of a KwaZulu Natal man and seriously injured his passenger. Officers are said to have followed traces of blood and discovered the bullet-riddled bodies of two men. One died as a result of the shooting.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), they received multiple calls from residents of Waterloo asking for help for the victims†
It was reported that as the two men were driving on Prickleear Road toward Crocodile Road, an unknown vehicle overtook them and opened fire with high-caliber rifles.
The number of occupants of the vehicle that opened fire is unknown.
The deceased succumbed to gunshot wounds to the head, neck and arm. The 30-year-old passenger was shot twice in the chest and also sustained gunshot wounds to his arm, and was rushed to hospital by Medics.
The motive for the shooting is not yet known.
This follows a drive by shooting incident of two men who were shot in January and their bodies discovered in a sugar cane plantation in Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal.
It was reported that a motorist contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) after watching the occupants of a white BMW open fire on a white Toyota Avanza carrying high-caliber guns.
“The caller informed the air traffic controller on duty that the Toyota Avanza was traveling from Inanda toward Verulam when the BMW overtook and opened fire,” the spokesman said. rusa spokesman Prem Balram.
He further explained that the Toyota Avanza had gone off the road and entered a sugar cane plantation. He could not confirm whether the occupants were injured and continued to drive because he was concerned for his safety.”
“The vehicle had been shot at more than 20 times. There were no occupants in the vehicle. Two separate blood trails were noted leading in different directions further into the sugar cane,” Balram said.
