How to fix the application popup event ID 1060 on Windows 10

One of the most common popup events that you will see, is the Windows Application popup event, or ID 1060. It is caused by a Microsoft Windows application that creates a popup window that you interact with. Usually, it is not a malicious program, but a program that has a bug, that has not been fixed yet. If you notice that your computer is suddenly freezing up, and freezes at the same spot over and over, that is the 1060 event.

In the past, I’ve written about the typical popup windows that users see when clicking on links. However, there are times when you will want to block certain types of popups. Here, I’ll show you how to block the Windows 10 popup that is sometimes triggered by one of the most popular apps, Facebook.

Windows 10 has a popup problem. When you install a new application, or when the computer starts, a new popup event ID 1060 event is fired. This works just fine for Windows 8.1. However, starting with Windows 10, this event ID 1060 popup should only occur when the user clicks on the Start menu, not when a new application is installed. In fact, that’s what the Windows 10 default behavior is.
