Isolated afternoon and thunderstorms expected in Gauteng



The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning of extremely high fire hazard conditions during the
Dawid Kruiper, !Kheis, Kareeberg and Ubuntu municipalities in the Northern Cape Province.

Wednesday’s weather forecast

Gauteng: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme

Mpumalanga: Cloudy in the east with morning fog along the slope and on the eastern Highveld, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the Lowveld, with isolated showers and thunderstorms but spread over the eastern Highveld.

Limpopo: Cloudy in the east with morning fog along the slope, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thunderstorms except in the extreme northeast.

North West: Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated afternoon and thunderstorms, except in the west.

Free State: Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated afternoon and thunderstorms in the east.

Northern Cape: Cloudy with morning fog along the coast where it will be cool, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the east. Winds along the coast will be light to moderate from the north to northwest.

Western Cape: Cloudy and cool along the west coast and the adjacent inland with fog in the morning and evening, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, but hot in the northeast, with a chance of drizzle in the southwest and the adjacent inland. Winds along the coast are moderate to fairly northerly to northwest, but moderate westerly to southwest along the south coast. Expected UVB Sunburn Index: High

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy in areas along the coast and adjacent inland with a chance of light rain in the morning, otherwise fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. Winds will blow moderately to moderately from the southwest along the coast.

oriental half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy in places south of the escapement with morning fog, otherwise fine and warm to hot. Winds along the coast will be strong to strong from the northeast and from the southwest in the evening.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog inland, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in places in the north with isolated afternoon and thunderstorms. Winds along the coast are moderate to moderate from an easterly to northeasterly direction. The expected UVB sunburn index: Very high
