Level 2 warning: disruptive rain expected in parts of SA



The South African Weather Service (SAWS) released a watch on Saturday for disruptive rainfall in parts of South Africa.

According to the weather serviceA level 2 yellow warning is expected for disruptive rainfall leading to localized flooding of roads, settlements, low-lying bridges and difficult driving conditions on dirt roads over the central and western parts of the Free State, the western parts of the Northwest and the northeastern parts of the North -Cape.

Saturday’s weather forecast

Gauteng: Cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms. Expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low

Mpumalanga: Cloudy in the morning with fog patches along the slope, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms, except in the Lowveld where it will be hot.

Limpopo: Cloudy in the southeast in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot.

North West: Partly cloudy and cool to warm weather, with scattered showers and thunderstorms, but isolated to the east.

Free State: Cloudy in the east with patches of fog, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Northern Cape: Morning fog along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the east, but scattered in the far northeast. Winds along the coast will be moderate to fresh from the south to southeast and will become strong in the afternoon north of Hondeklip Bay.

Western Cape: Partly cloudy and warm to hot weather with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast from late afternoon. Winds along the coast will initially be light and variable along the south coast, then moderate east to northeast, then fresh to strong south to southeast and spread to the south coast by midday. Expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy in the morning, becoming partly cloudy and warm. Winds along the coast will be weak to moderate from the southeast.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy with light rain along the coast and isolated afternoon thunderstorms inland but spreading in the northeast. Winds along the coast are light from the southwest and moderate to the east in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms, but spread in the west where it will be cool. Winds along the coast will be moderate to fresh from the south to southwest. Expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate
