Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in KZN



The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Level 2 yellow warning on Thursday for severe thunderstorms over the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the western parts of both the Northwestern and Free States, the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape and the southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal. Natal .

According to the weather service, residents of the provinces should watch out for localized flooding from vulnerable roads, low-lying areas and bridges as well as local damage to infrastructure, settlements (informal), property and vehicles.

Gauteng: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon and thunderstorms. Expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme

Mpumalanga: Cloudy in the morning with fog patches on the slope, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the Lowveld with isolated afternoon and thunderstorms in the west.

Limpopo: Cloudy in the east in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the southwest.

Northwest: Fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon, with scattered showers and thunderstorms, but isolated to the east.

Free State: Initially fine in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thunderstorms, but isolated in the east.

North Cape: Cloudy and cool with fog patches along the coast and adjacent inland in the morning and evening, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the east. Winds along the coast are weak north to northwest and change to west to southwest in the afternoon.

Western Cape: Morning fog over the west coast where it will be cloudy, otherwise fine to partly cloudy and warm but cool in the southwest and south coasts. Light drizzle is expected over the southwestern parts, clearing in the evening. Winds along the coast will be light to moderate west to northwest, otherwise southwest in the morning. Western half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot. It will become cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, but isolated to the west. Winds along the coast will be light to moderate westerly, but moderate to moderate southwest in the afternoon.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Morning fog patches south of the slope, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, becoming cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms becoming widespread in the evening. The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly in the morning, otherwise moderate to fairly south-west.

KwaZulu-Natal: Hot in places in the north, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms, except in the northeast. Scattered thunderstorms are expected in the southwest. Winds along the coast are moderate to fairly northerly to northeasterly. The expected UVB sunburn index:Very high
