Lukewarm Matsatsantsa a Pitori desperate for top eight place

SuperSport United risk missing out on a top eight place in the DStv Premiership as they currently languish outside the top half with 26 points collected from 19 games. However, Matsatsantsa A Pitori is confident that they can creep into the top half and finish in a better spot.

To do that, they’ll need to get their act together when they receive AmaZulu at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday. Usuthu is not in the best form as they come back from two draws against Stellenbosch and TS Galaxy and a loss to Orlando Pirates.

SuperSport youngster Jesse Donn believes AmaZulu’s performance has been decent, but he has found a loophole that could be in his favor when they collide.

“We know they are a good team, they have done well, especially in the Caf Champions League and we know they have played a lot of games and the freshness could go in our favor and that could be one of the deciding factors .” † But also always say: we focus on ourselves and what we can do,” said Donn.

The 22-year-old is still injured from The Spartans’ latest appearance, where they were stunned 2-0 by Royal AM. His main concern is that United’s displays don’t match the points on the log.

“The last game we played pretty well created a lot of chances but we didn’t take them, so we’re going into this game and we hope to compete and perform at the level we’ve been at and we want to be bolder up front. Not just against AmaZulu but moving forward, it’s important that we get the results and we want to start this weekend.

He added: “We haven’t had the best start to the new year and we haven’t been in the best form, but we have performed well and we really want to translate that into results. It’s important to turn things around this weekend and get that momentum going and hopefully finish the season closer to the top three compared to where we are now. †
