Mandela’s indecisive protege sees SA crumble

Jacob Zuma had his faults – one of them was a strong bond with the infamous Gupta family who drained South African taxpayers through the state takeover project. Economist Thabo Mbeki went on to become one of the best presidents of the post-apartheid era, his only glaring blemish was the bleak way he handled the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Pragmatic FW de Klerk, who was accused of ties to apartheid terror brigades carrying out the planned killings of the Cradock Four, was credited with taking the bold step to release Nelson Mandela and undo the ANC and other political organizations.
