Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi could be one of the players Downs is considering letting go at the end of the season.
Phakaaathi has good reason that the 32-year-old former captain of Bidvest Wits is unhappy with his lack of involvement with the team, having only played one DStv Premiership game this season.
“When he was with Wits he was a fixture in the Bafana Bafana team but now at Sundowns he hardly gets calls because he doesn’t play, worse now that there is a new coach who is with a totally different team. It’s the same at Sundowns because the coaches are developing the team and the older players are getting little or no playing time,” a source said.
“Vila would not mind leaving at the end of the season if the situation does not change,” the informant added.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs are said to be keeping an eye on Vilakazi’s situation at Sundowns and could potentially free the midfielder at the end of the season.
Chiefs were closely associated with Vilakazi before joining Sundowns from Bidvest Wits in 2016. Instead, he chose to join the Brazilians.
