Tesla cars will soon have access to Steam’s library, Musk confirms

Tesla cars will soon allow drivers to enjoy Steam’s vast library on the go. In a recent response to a question on Twitter, Elon Musk said tests are underway to bring Steam games to future Tesla cars. Also read – Bethesda Shuts Down Its PC Launcher: All Games, Items & More Move To Steam

Musk replied to a tweet from the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account: “Great game.” When asked if the game would be coming to Tesla vehicles, the tycoon said the company is working on getting Steam’s library of games to function on Tesla’s software. “We are working on the general case of getting Steam games to work on a Tesla versus specific titles,” Musk tweeted. “Former is clearly where we should be in the long run.” Also read – Elon Musk is reportedly dating a 27-year-old Australian actress

Remarkable, Teslas can already play a few select games, including The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Kop. And as Musk says, “entertainment will be key when cars drive themselves,” the advent of Steam games would definitely keep users engaged.

According to reports, the company is said to be developing Tesla Arcade, a video game platform, in its vehicles and is likely to partner with game studios to port games. A team of software engineers is reportedly working on video games in Seattle, and a similar team is likely to work in Austin as well. Reports note that the built-in hardware is almost on par with PS5 and Xbox Series X in terms of processing power. As a reminder, AMD’s CEO at the Computex conference last year called for the company to partner with Tesla to develop Ryzen APUs and “a discrete Op RDNA2-based GPU that kicks in when running AAA games and delivers up to 10 teraflops of computing power.” While the last bit of information shouldn’t come as a surprise, it would be interesting to see a cool feature added to the popular EV car, apparently the company plans to offer packs of games as well.
