Imagine having to tell your insurer that you were hit by a Lamborghini Gallardo?
A truck driver who crashed into the luxury race car in Durban will have that awkward conversation with his insurer and employer after jumping into the sleek white supercar on Saturday.
Although no injuries were reported, the Lamborghini Gallardo was badly damaged on Saturday after a truck collided with it on the southbound lane of the R102 near Phoenix.
At around 11:08 a.m., members of the Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) were called to the scene by passing motorists.
“On arrival, the Lamborghini Gallardo was in the right hard shoulder. It is alleged that a truck driving next to the sports car suddenly ended up in its lane, leading to the collision,” said Rusa spokesman Prem Balram.
Lamborghini had a second from R950,000, depending on the year, model and mileage. But a brand new Lamborghini can cost up to R3.5 million.
It is not uncommon to find these luxury cars on the streets of Durban. Over the years, the East Coast has built a reputation as a hub for supercar enthusiasts and petrol enthusiasts.
