NEW YORK Charlbi Dean, a South African actress who starred in the Palme d'Or-winning movie "Triangle of Sadness," has passed away at the age of 32, her agent announced on Tuesday.
Dean, who was also a model, passed away in New York City, according to the celebrity website and Hollywood tabloid Deadline.
No information about the ailment that led to her death was given by the representation or the reports.
In the Swedish director Ruben Ostlund's "Triangle of Sadness," Dean appeared opposite Woody Harrelson and Harris Dickinson.
At the Cannes Film Festival in May of this year, the incisive satire about class struggle took home the top honour. The Jerusalem Film Festival's opening night film was also the film.
Dean told The Associated Press before the movie took home the prize at Cannes: "For me, I'm like, I've already won.
I've already arrived in Cannes with the film. That is totally absurd. At this point, anything would be the icing on the cake, you know?
